Welcome!

To all of our students and parents at the Music Institute, this page is where you can get answers to all of your questions about lessons at the Music Institute including:

Our Studio Policies, accessing your TeacherZone Account, answers to Frequently Asked Questions, and the Holiday Closures Calendar!

Studio Policies

We strive to create and clearly communicate our policies in the interest of courtesy and fairness to students, parents, guardians, and teachers. The Agreements linked below outline the basic expectations of our relationship with you as a member of our teaching studio. All students who participate in lessons with us agree to these policies during the registration process. We value transparency at the Music Institute, so our policies are always available online to review!

TeacherZone Login

We use TeacherZone for all of our scheduling, attendance, billing, and automatic reminders! Every Music Institute student creates a TeacherZone account when they start lessons with us. Login to your account to view your schedule, update contact information, or update your billing information.

Frequently Asked Questions

When a student first registers with us, we send a welcome email with your teacher’s contact information.

If you need to cancel or reschedule just a single lesson, you can reach out to your teacher (with at least 24 hours notice) and they will help find a time to make-up the lesson.

For any ongoing schedule changes, please contact Studio Administration at admin@musicinstitute.com and we’ll help you find a new lesson time.

You are eligible for a make-up lesson as long as you cancel at least 24 hours prior to your scheduled lesson. To cancel a lesson you must reach out to your teacher with the contact information provided in your welcome email.

Makeup lessons may be offered in extraordinary circumstances such as illness or emergency on a case by case basis. We do not provide make-up lessons for no-shows.

Make-up lessons are valid for 90 days. Students may not accrue more than 4 unscheduled make-up lessons at a time.

While we do not offer refunds, in some cases we can prorate your next month of lessons. Billing adjustments and prorations are case-by-case and at the discretion of studio administration.

If you would like to request a proration, you can send us an email at admin@musicinstitute.com

You can review our Holiday Closures policy in your signed student agreement or on our website by clicking here. In summary, payment is month to month. Some months have an additional fifth lesson while other months may have 3 lessons due to being closed for a holiday. To avoid billing confusion, we charge our students a flat rate averaging four lessons per month. Students can find our posted calendar for listed holiday closures here: Holiday Calendar

For Group Classes, we will always factor in holidays when determining the price for the class.

Please bring your instrument (with the exception of drums and piano) as well as any lesson books or sheet music that you are using with your teacher. Our practice rooms are all equipped with a piano or keyboard.

While we do not rent out instruments to take home, we do have limited instruments available for a student to borrow during their lessons. We highly recommend finding your own instrument sooner than later so that you can start practicing at home!

We offer lessons for students 3 years old and up! Whether you are young or young at heart, we would be so happy to teach you!

For students who are 3 to 5 years old who are seeking private lessons, we use the following assessment to determine readiness:

  1. Do they know their ABC’s?
  2. Are they able to follow directions?
  3. Will they be able to focus for the length of their lessons?

If you can answer yes to all three questions, then your student may be ready for music lessons! If you answered no to one or more questions, then it may be best to wait a few months. We would be happy to teach your student once they are ready!

Yes we do! We offer two formal recitals every year, a Spring Recital and Winter Recital. We are also planning to have Open Mic Nights, Jam Sessions, and other community events in the near future!

We accept donations for sheet music, orchestra instruments, guitars, and more! The only instrument that we will not accept donations for are pianos; we already have all the pianos that we need. But if you send us an email with details about your piano then we can post it on our community board or social media.

Holiday Calendar

We are closed for limited days throughout the year for school breaks and holidays. Please review our Holiday Policy to see how we handle Holiday Closures with ongoing lessons.
